Green Energy - The Way Forward
LPA Energy has recently awarded two contracts that
provide Lancashire County Council with Green Energy
for both streetlighting and three locations throughout
the County. The streetlighting contract will operate
until 2005 enabling the streetlighting for Lancashire
County Council to be 100% levy exempt. The renewable
energy source that is being used in this contract
is wind power.
Three of the largest offices within the County Council,
County Hall, Eastcliffe and Winkley House are all
on a levy exempt energy contract with the energy
provider TXU until 2004. TXU Energy will supply
'Green Energy'
by a mix of six renewable sources including wind,
energy from waste, landfill gas, hydro, sewage gas
and biomes. Kevin Maynard, UPG Energy Manager, recently
attended a presentation at County Hall where he
presented
County Councillor, Mr. Tony Martin, cabinet member
for Resources, with a plaque certifying Lancashire
County Council's award through their use of these
Green Energy contracts.
